Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty
What is Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty?
Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty uses high frequency sound waves to liquefy subcutaneous fat cells. Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty achieves smooth results and removes difficult fatty deposits.
How does Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty work?
Ultrasonic waves are produced by a generator and transmitted to the tip of a cannula. When the cannula comes in contact with fat cells, these cells are broken up, and the fat is emulsified.
What are the benefits of Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty?
The benefits of the procedure include the elimination of fat cells and recontouring of the body. Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty removes fatty deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. The nature of UAL helps eliminate fat in way that is gentler to the surrounding tissues which enables more efficient fat removal and better contouring. The result is a resculpting of bulging areas into attractive contours.
Is the procedure safe?
Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty is safe as long as the patient meets proper medical guidelines. Though rare, complications may occur.
Are there any possible side effects?
Possible side effects include bruising, swelling and an uneven skin surface. Occasional small skin burns may occur, and fluid collections may require drainage.
Will there be any downtime?
Patients are advised to rest for twenty-four hours after the procedure and not to resume strenuous activities for two to three days.
How soon will results appear?
Results appear as swelling diminishes. If fat is regained after the procedure, it is concentrated in other areas of the body instead of the liposuctioned area.
Who are candidates for Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty?
Candidates include those who have tried diet and exercise unsuccessfully, are slightly to moderately overweight, have firm, elastic skin and have disproportionate areas of fat on the body.
How does the procedure feel?
With anesthesia, the procedure does not cause discomfort. The area targeted may be bruised and sore afterwards.
What are the alternative treatments?
Diet and exercise are alternatives to Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty.
Is additional treatment necessary?
One procedure is usually all that is necessary; touch-up procedures may be needed for any complications.
Instructions before treatment:
Pre-treatment, patients need to thoroughly wash the area being treated, and avoid aspirin or blood thinning medications two weeks prior to the procedure.
Instructions after treatment:
Patients may be instructed to wear a snug, elastic garment for several weeks following the procedure. Resting for twenty-four hours after the treatment is necessary for the healing process. Patients may resume non-strenuous activities after two or three days.
